Elk River sends another player to the state finals
Ava Nelson advanced to the State Singles Championship match in 2024 and was up 7-5, 5-5 when she began to seriously cramp. She tried so hard to fight through it but just could not and had to forfeit at 7-5, 5-7, 0-2. So close to being the State Singles Champion, joining Meagan Brown and Josh Gearou as former Elks to advance that far. Congrats, Ava!
Ava has signed her Letter of Intent to play D-1 tennis at Sacred Heart University in Fairfax, Connecticut.
Congratulations Coach Randy Ronning “Coach of the year”!
They started four new awards this year for our school district, including Elk River, Rogers and Zimmerman. That's over 75 sports teams and they selected Elk River Tennis to be the first sport they recognized with this honor.
“I humbly accept their recognition on behalf of our outstanding coaches, parents and players over the past 30+ years. A tremendous honor with so much credit due to so many people. On behalf of all of us, I humbly say THANK YOU!”
